A launch-moment invitational that brought together heritage fashion and contemporary golf culture to generate buzz, storytelling, and public anticipation for the Gap × Malbon collaboration.

The Context
Gap partnered with lifestyle golf brand Malbon to debut a limited-edition collection that merged Gap’s timeless American heritage with Malbon’s modern, culture-driven take on the game.
To celebrate the launch, the brands hosted the first-ever Malbon × Gap Invitational at Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey, designed to introduce the collaboration to press, influencers, and celebrities who could carry the story to the public.
Beyond a traditional product launch, the event needed to position the collection at the intersection of fashion, sport, and culture, generating excitement that would translate into cultural relevance and consumer demand.
The Strategy
Insight
When heritage and emerging culture meet, credibility is built through shared experience and not just product storytelling. Bringing influential voices together inside the world of the collaboration would allow hype to form organically and travel outward through media, social, and fandom.
What we did
Designed a relaxed, invitational golf experience that blended play, leisure, and social connection
Embedded the collaboration visually across the course through branded flags, tee markers, carts, signage, and apparel
Created multiple participation opportunities, including a shotgun tournament, driving range moments, putting green, and lounge spaces
Delivered a gifting experience on arrival so every guest immediately stepped into the brand world

The Experience
Guests arrived to a fully branded course environment where fashion and golf culture naturally converged.
Custom course details, collaborative apparel styling, and curated signage established an immersive visual identity from the first moment of arrival.
The day unfolded through flexible engagement:
a casual shotgun tournament with prizes, open driving range access with coaching, putting green play, and lounge spaces for conversation and content capture.
A gifting moment welcomed each attendee into the collaboration, while opening remarks from the Malbon founders anchored the cultural significance of the partnership.
Meals, drinks, and an awards ceremony closed the experience, transforming the launch into a shared, memory-driven celebration rather than a traditional press event.
